Colleen Browning

  • British/American artist (1918 – 2003)
  • Studied at London’s Slade School of Art (1937-1939)
  • Moved to the US in 1949 and lived in New York City for the next 50 years.
  • She was a major figure in the realism (arts) movement.
  • First exhibited at the Whitney Museum of American Art, followed by exhibits at Edwin Hewitt Gallery in New York, the National Academy of Design, the Museum of Modern Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the Kennedy Galleries.
  • Awards: Rochester Memorial Art Museum and Carnegie International, among many others
