  • Became known both for his musical ability and for his painting
  • As a painter, he was known for his colorful, often abstract works.
  • Received first prize in the 1943 New Orleans Spring Fiesta
  • His works were displayed in his own galleries in New Orleans and in many other settings, including Carmel and San Francisco; as well as in Mexico, France and Italy
