- Born in Brussels, Belgium, in 1904. Died in New York in 1977.
- Lithographer, painter, illustrator and watercolorist
- Much of his work reflects the horrors of war which he witnessed growing up in Europe.
- Exhibitions include the Carnegie Institute, Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Art Institute of Chicago, the Whitney Museum of American art and others
