Jack Youngerman

  • Born in March, 1926 in St. Louis, MO and later moved to Louisville, KY
  • First studied art while at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Also studied at the University of Missouri and Ecole des beaux-arts in Paris.
  • Lived, married, and studied in Europe until 1956.
  • He began to incorporate into his paintings a geometric images with simplified organic forms which came to characterize his style.
  • He received the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship in 1976 and a National Endowment for the Arts Award in 1984.
  • He relocated to Bridgehampton, NY in 1995.
