Born in Tours, France in March 1923. Shortly after his birth, his family moved to New York. He also lived in Virginia, North Carolina, Florida and Georgia.
He taught drawing and painting from 1958 to 1981, first at the Atlanta College of Art and later at the College of Architecture at the Georgia Institute of Technology and at New York University.
He was a figurative painter, known especially for his portraits, cityscapes and seascapes.
