Sheila Metzner

  • Born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1939
  • She attended the Pratt Institute, graduating with a degree in Visual Communication in 1961.
  • Following work at the Doyle Dane Bernbach advertising agency, where she became the first female art director of the company, she continued her career in photography, building her collection of photos.
  • In 1960 one of her photographs gained her the reputation as a photographer to watch. Gallery shows and commercial clients soon followed.
  • Her photographs are featured in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art; the International Center of Photography; the Getty; the Brooklyn Museum; the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and others.
